Caitlyn Jenner Is All Our Parents Using A Selfie Stick

In a Friday tweet, Caitlyn Jenner proved she's exactly like everyone's parents using a selfie stick for the first time. In other words: adorably befuddled.

"Guess what?" Jenner exclaims once she realizes the phone camera has started rolling. "Somebody sent me a selfie stick!"

"I love it," she says, twirling around her luxe living room with a glass of white wine in one hand. "I've never used one of these before."

Then, after wishing the internet a happy Friday, Jenner becomes all of our parents who can't figure out how to turn off newfangled technology.

"What a second," she says with a sudden look of concern — the one all of our parents have made while desperately paging Siri or frustratingly trying to geolocate themselves. "How do you turn this thing off?"

In case Jenner needs a tutorial, we'd happily volunteer to teach her the fine art of selfie sticking over a bottle of pinot grigio any day of the week.

6 Times Zendaya's Beauty Look Won The Red Carpet

Question: Who doesn't love Zendaya? The triple hyphen (singer, actress, and dancer) is only 19 years old, and she's already a Hollywood mainstay and budding beauty icon. To wit: She turns out noteworthy red carpet looks on the regular, often by doing her own makeup (which, mind you, is incredibly rare in Hollywood). Plus, she experiments with wigs, rocks her natural hair texture on the red carpet regardless of what the haters say, and just nabbed a beauty contract with CoverGirl. So, yeah, she's basically killing it.

All that being said, do we really need another reason to showcase her best beauty looks? We think not. Ahead, you'll find a few of her greatest beauty moments to fuel your inspiration folder. And true to form, each one is different, exciting, and wonderfully unexpected.

For the 12th Annual CFDA Awards in New York City last fall, Zendaya rocked a topknot and bronzy eyeshadow that's both exciting and totally wearable. We can't help you with the makeup tricks (she did it herself!), but we can give you insight on how to score her bun, coiffed by hairstylist Jennifer Yepez.

Zendaya loves to match her makeup, but this coordinated pale-pink lip, blush, and eyeshadow trio could be our favorite version of the technique. Tip: Follow her lead and keep your monochromatic look matte to ensure it looks thoroughly modern.

Big curls! Brown contoured lipstick! Hoop earrings! Zendaya mastered the '90s hip-hop look and sent our hearts aflutter. We're going to guess she was playing 2Pac when she got ready.

There are a few things one can learn from this look: A retro wave always works, no matter what you're wearing, and makeup rules were made to be broken. At the Nickelodeon Halo awards back in 2014, Zendaya paired a bright red lip with a charcoal smoky eye for pure glamour.

Zendaya's combo of long, flowing curls, radiant skin, and heavy lashes was one of our favorite winning performances at this year's Golden Globes.

Sure, Zendaya always looks beautiful on the red carpet, but she's also become one of the inspiring faces for wearing one's natural hair texture in any context. The best part? No matter what people say, she takes it in stride.

The Most Insane Pics Of NYC's WORST Snowstorms

This article was originally published on January 26, 2015.

Jonas is upon us, causing most of the East Coast to cozy down in bed with Netflix and hot chocolate for the weekend.

While we've yet to see anything approaching the promised Worst Snowstorm In History, we have been dealing with some totally extreme weather conditions here in New York City, with travel conditions so bad that the NYPD is threatening to arrest anyone who tries to get on the road during the storm.

And now, yet another winter storm is sweeping through NYC. The city has been warned to expect blizzard conditions all of Saturday, lasting until 7 a.m. Sunday morning, with a foot of snow expected to fall in the city over the weekend. That includes dangerous winds, so really: stay inside!

But before you start feeling too sorry for yourself, we suggest you take a look at the five most ridiculous blizzards to ever hit the city. This storm might be tiny in comparison, but we hope you're taking all the precautions necessary to stay warm and safe. And, whatever you do, please avoid "snow madness" at all costs.

March 1888
Known simply as "The Blizzard," this storm saw temperatures hit below zero as more than 20 inches of snow and 85-mile-per-hour winds struck the city over a two-day period. Public transportation came to a halt (75 trains were stuck with people trapped inside), lodging prices increased for those looking for a place to stay, and more than 200 deaths were catalogued.

Fulton Street, 1888

Brooklyn Bridge, 1888

January 1996
20.2 inches were recorded in Central Park after two long, snowy days, with winds reaching 50 miles per hour. Schools and businesses were closed, transportation was shut down, flights were canceled, and power went out all across the city. Plus, the nor'easter caused around $3 billion in damages along the East Coast.

Times Square, 1996

57th Street, 1996

February 2003
Just imagine what a five-day blizzard feels like. It's cold. And, windy. And, really, really snowy. The President's Day Snowstorm saw 19.8 inches of snow in the city and a whopping 25.6 inches at JFK Airport (in other words, all flights canceled). The cleanup cost an estimated $1 million per inch, according to then-mayor Michael Bloomberg.

9th Street, 2003

Brooklyn Heights, 2003

January 2006
The blizzard of '06 was the biggest, most destructive storm since record-keeping began in 1869, dropping 26.9 inches across New York City. Although not technically a blizzard due to its low wind speeds, it left the city with canceled rail services and flights. This storm alone accounted for two-thirds of the total snowfall that winter.

Lexington Avenue, 2006

Greenpoint, 2006

February 2010
Snowmageddon (a.k.a., Snowpocalypse) was one of the most notorious storms of the past decade, leaving not just New York City but a majority of the East Coast buried under fluffy, white (and really cold and wet) blankets. Two consecutive storms struck the tri-state area within five days, dumping over 20 inches of snow. It was a monster, especially for places like Washington D.C., which had never experienced such conditions.

Steven Avery Says He's Innocent In New Letter

Steven Avery, subject of the Netflix docuseries Making a Murderer, penned a three-page letter from prison maintaining his innocence. He is currently serving a life sentence for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach, whose killer Avery claims remains at large.

"The real killer is still out there," Avery wrote to Colleen Henry, an investigative reporter with WISN 12 News in Milwaukee, WI. "Who is he stalking now? I am really innocent of this case and that is the truth!!! The truth will set me free!!!!!!!"

The handwritten letter Henry received January 21 was a response to her request asking whether he'd be willing to talk about his reaction to the Netflix sensation and the overwhelming public response it has received, WISN 12 News reports. The White House, for instance, officially declined a petition requesting a pardon for Avery, which was signed by more than 100,000 people.

In addition to insisting he was wrongfully convicted, Avery suggested Henry investigate local law enforcement, which was cast in a sinister light throughout Making a Murderer.

"Here, put this on and I will talk to you, and do an investigation of the sheriff of Manitowoc County," Avery wrote.

He also cast doubt on his ex-fiancée, Jodi Stachowski, who recently appeared on a Nancy Grace special alleging his guilt.

"How much money Jodi get to talk bad!" Avery wrote, suggesting the state paid off Stachowski to corroborate the state's case against him.

Although Avery told Henry he's open to a face-to-face interview, the Department of Corrections vetoed WISN 12 News' request.

In 2003, Avery was exonerated after DNA evidence proved he was wrongfully convicted of sexual assault. Although many Netflix fans are convinced Avery's justice was twice mishandled, his chances of reentering civilian life this time around remain uncertain.

Two Sisters From South Wales Model High Fashion

There’s Bella and Gigi, Kendall and Kylie, and Kyra and Evie – the redheaded sisters from South Wales with gold star quality.

Sisters are fascinating to look at; noticing who picked up what and how, and understanding just how different they are in character from their facial expressions. Because usually one is sensible and the other wild; one loud and the other quiet; one into their appearance and the other nonplussed.

A few months ago, we featured photographer Tom Johnson and stylist Charlotte James’ photo-series showing high-end fashion styled on a beautiful cast of people living in an ex-mining community in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. Here we zoom in on the series, viewing the extended shoot (printed in Pylot Magazine) of the two sisters originally featured: 8-year-old Kyra and 6-year-old Evie.

So wonderfully photogenic, the girls bring intensity, freedom and an energy that photographers, stylists and casting directors usually spend years trying to capture, and often end up having to manufacture. Here it is, then, in Merthyr Tydfil, on two little sisters. Click through to see the shoot.

Kourtney Kardashian is expanding her squad beyond her famous sisters.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star sipped drinks and posed with the ideal squad of celebrity friends while attending actor and producer Balthazar Getty’s 41st birthday party in Los Angeles. Jenna Dewan Tatum, Kelly Rowland, Chrissy Teigen, and John Legend were among the well-known faces posing in photo booths and around dinner tables with the 36-year-old reality television star.

Apparently, the group crashed Getty’s birthday dinner, according to Dewan Tatum’s Instagram caption. They definitely brought the happiness and fun.
Hairstylist Jen Atkin shared an Instagram photo of the group with the caption, “This feels like an ad for a new sitcom called 'Just Kourt' where @kourtneykardash moves to a new city and meets a zany cast of characters! I think I finally got 't'urnt' Happy Bday @baltgetty!”

Kardashian arrived at the Nice Guy restaurant wearing a simple black jumpsuit with a scoop neck.

4 Winter DIYs You Can Make At Home

Let's face facts: It's too damn cold to even think about venturing outdoors unless you have to. When the temperature drops, and we're relegated to our beds, couches, and baths, we like to use the time productively — that is, by pampering ourselves, of course. But instead of shelling out stacks of Benjamins on new masks and scrubs, we decided to whip up our own. To do so, we teamed up with Anit Hora, the brain behind Brooklyn apothecary brand, Mullein & Sparrow, who helped us create four easy concoctions that will not only relax your mind, but soothe and hydrate your body. Check 'em out, below.

Spiced Body Scrub
We all know what winter weather does to our skin. It takes hydrated, plump limbs and turns them into a dry, cracked mess. When this happens (and it will), we like to whip out a gentle body scrub to slough away all the dead skin. This one contains coffee grounds and sugar that works as a manual exfoliant, while the olive oil in the formula hydrates your skin. Plus, thanks to the orange essential oil, cinnamon, and cloves in the blend, the concoction smells incredible, which, if you ask us, makes the banal act of buffing your skin a little more exciting.
Ingredients:
1 oz coffee grounds
2 oz olive oil (use less if you want a coarser scrub)
3 oz sugar
25 drops orange essential oil
1 tbsp powdered cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves (optional)
Generous shavings of orange peel (finely shaved)

Instructions
1. In a 4-ounce jar, combine your dry ingredients (coffee grounds, sugar, cinnamon, orange peel, ground cloves) followed by your wet ingredients (olive oil and orange essential oil). Mix thoroughly.

2. Take the finished product into the shower (or bath), grab a few handfuls, and use the mixture to scrub your body. Between uses, keep your scrub in the fridge, and it will last up to one week, says Hora.

Vanilla-Peppermint Sea Salt Spray
Sure, it may be the dead of winter, but that doesn't mean we're giving up on our love for beachy, tousled locks — especially since the style is better at withstanding hat hair than stick-straight strands. If any of you are salt spray aficionados, you know that stuff runs out, fast. So we thought we'd whip up a quick and easy version on the cheap. It works as a texturizing spray and doubles as a yummy hair perfume.

Ingredients:
1 3/4 oz distilled water
1/4 oz argan oil
1-2 tbsp sea salt
10 drops vanilla extract
3 drops peppermint oil

Instructions:
1. Pour your distilled water, argan oil, sea salt, vanilla extract, and peppermint oil in a spray bottle, and give it a good shake.

2. Once the sea salt is dissolved and the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, lightly mist the liquid into your hair and scrunch or twist your strands to improve texture. It's normal for the ingredients to separate after use — make sure to shake the bottle before spritzing again.

Chocolate-Rose Detoxifying Clay Mask
This mask is full of bentonite clay, which pulls oil and dirt out of your skin, says Hora. Add a little rose essential oil and cocoa powder to the mix, and you'll hydrate and rejuvenate the skin, while smelling like a luxuriously floral cupcake.Ingredients:
2 oz cocoa powder
2 oz bentonite clay
20 drops rose essential oil
1 tbsp aloe gel, yogurt, honey, or water

Instructions:
1. In a small jar, mix your cocoa powder, bentonite clay, and rose essential oil.

2. When you're ready to use your mask, combine 1 teaspoon of the dry mixture with 1 tablespoon of aloe gel, yogurt, honey, or water to create a paste. Hora suggests using aloe if you're looking for soothing qualities, yogurt if you want some lactic acid exfoliation, honey for more moisture, and water for an easy, no-frills mask.

Peppermint-Bark Lip Balm
Lip balm addicts, it's time to fall in love with something of your own creation. Namely, this sweet lip balm. The cocoa butter and peppermint oil in the recipe will give the balm a chocolate-peppermint scent, while hydrating the hell out of your lips. Plus, since you'll have enough to fill a few tins, dole 'em out to your squad (or better yet, keep 'em all for yourself).

Ingredients:
3/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup melted cocoa butter
1/4 cup beeswax
10-20 drops peppermint oil

Instructions:
1. On low heat, melt the coconut oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax in a small saucepan until liquefied.

2. Drop 2-3 drops of peppermint oil into a small lip balm tin. Spoon the liquefied mixture on top.

3. Repeat using additional tins until the mixture is gone.

4. Let your lip balms set in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes before taking them out and going to town.

Aaron Carter Says His Music Career "Started As A Joke"

Aaron Carter had no idea what awaited him when he sang a cover of The Jets’ “Crush On You” in 1997 as his first single. The song became an instant hit and turned the then 9-year-old into a teen pop idol

What many fans didn’t know was that the former teen heartthrob never thought he’d be a star. “I don't think I had a voice,” the 28-year-old said on OWN’s Where Are They Now. “I think I was terrible, but they did it as a joke. And then, I just wanted to get good."

Suddenly, Carter was touring the world with Britney Spears and his brother’s group, The Backstreet Boys. He went on to headline his own tours, guest star on popular shows like Lizzie McGuire, and earn top 20 hits. However, he says his story is much different than other teen stars, like Justin Bieber.

“Justin Bieber and other kind of kids, they started when they were like 13, 14,” Carter said. “My story’s a little different, you know, because this is all I’ve ever known, so it’s not really like this is something I could ever give up on.”

Teen stardom took its toll on the "Another Earthquake" singer. He entered rehab in 2011 after excessive “drinking and smoking” led him to a deep depression. “There was a picture that leaked from one of my best friends of me smoking weed and it was on the front cover of The National Enquirer— and it damn near ruined my career,” the singer explained.

“I ended up going to the Betty Ford Center, you know, to go and just take a break and try to just, you know, figure out how to get myself healthy and together. 'Cause I wasn't healthy. I was drinking and smoking and really excessively doing it and I was very depressed. I wasn't making any money and I wasn't doing any tours, I wasn't doing any concerts. Nobody was booking me for anything. I wasn't making any money. I made probably, like, $2,000 that year.”

Now, Carter is sober and committed to relaunching his career. He’s performing live shows throughout the South, in states like North Carolina, Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia. It’s a far cry from the stadium tours Carter’s accustomed to, but it’s a step in the right direction.Catch the singer updating us about his life when Where Are They Now returns tonight at 10 p.m. EST.

Autocompleting Your Online Dating Profile Gets Hilarious Results

Aaron Gillies, a comedian based out of London, surrendered his love life to the whims of the internet when he decided to use Google’s autocomplete to fill out his dating profile. He posted the results to Twitter — and they are pretty glorious.

Turns out, Google actually has a pretty good idea of what people are looking for in a partner. Isn’t everyone’s ideal partner addicted to alcohol and able to fix their car? And “ready” is, in truth, the ideal body type. Why hasn’t OKCupid added that as an option yet?

While Gillies doesn’t say which dating app he was using, we’re up to the challenge of finding the profile. It could be worth it to find someone who, like us, is turned off by "being found in human form." We do have two thumbs, so we're obviously just his type.

One word of advice, though: Add your photo, Aaron. The blank logo makes us think you're not committed to the bit.

Your Most Annoying Tights Problem, Solved

Tights fall into the love-hate category of our closet. Yes, they can make skirts, dresses, and other leg-baring pieces work in the dead of winter — but sometimes, they feel like they're more trouble than they're worth, with all those runs, saggy crotches, and toe holes we suffer through. One of the biggest annoyances so horrible that it turns skirt-and-dress lovers into pants people in the winter? The absurdly tight waistband. Seriously. There's a reason girdle companies have to pay people to wear them.

While some have even resorted to cutting the waistband off completely to make tights more bearable, we're looking at a less DIY alternative: Wade & Belle's aptly named "Not Too Tights." They feature a thicker, looser waistband that promises a "no-pinch waistband" and "no love handles" while also staying in place. Similar to the top of your most comfortable yoga pants, these tights "have a patented waistband that will lay perfectly flat against your midsection, leading to smooth lines underneath all your clothes." Plus, unlike other luxe pairs, these ring in at a budget-friendly $20.

So if you're still looking to stock up on for the cold-weather months (or if you desperately need to replace worn-and-torn pairs), we say it's time to give these (whether in plain, diamond, or polka dot) a spin. The tights gods have officially spoken.

Whitney Cummings Takes On Sex, Money & Power In Debut HBO Special

$
0
0
Whitney Cummings is not in love with the modern world, or so the material in her debut HBO special, I'm Your Girlfriend, would have us believe — or maybe, it's modern feminism she's got a problem wrapping her hands around.

What Cummings is, however, is a master of is sarcasm, encased in a layer of Lucille Ball-esque physicality — if Lucille Ball were much raunchier. Every joke about sex, and there were many, seems to be punctuated with a thrust of the hips, a flip of the head, or a lift of the leg. The latter was especially prominent in her material on squirting, which is apparently the new anal — anal being now de rigueur.

Her material on what she doesn't want to do in bed is both hilarious and so detailed that it takes up a good half hour of the set. It's among her best moments, crossing into the absurd when she mimics sex for a prolonged period with her microphone hitting every possible orifice multiple times...including head, shoulders, knees, and toes. And ears.

Cummings stumbles when she transitions from a bit about paying for all of her dates into one about public figures and their sexuality. She goes from discussing her newfound understanding of the absurd social and personal constructs that come with being the friend who pays for everything (she does have that sweet 2 Broke Girls money from CBS) to saying she doesn't respect Nicki Minaj because "you can see her butthole" so quickly it will give you whiplash.

While Cummings makes compelling observations about her own behavior as a successful woman dating non-alpha males — like how she once suddenly and "out of nowhere" expected a guy she's with to start doing chores — she falls short when she starts calling out other women for exploring their sexuality. Apparently, no one has told her that it's 2016, when a woman can pop and lock and be a boss.

I'm Your Girlfriend also gives us this takeaway: When at a Whitney Cummings show, never pipe up and tell her what type of birth control you're on, unless you are prepared to hear her fully unfiltered thoughts on the method. What she has to say might scare the eggs right out of your ovaries.

Selena Gomez & Ronda Rousey Date The Same "Bland Man" On SNL

Ronda Rousey and Selena Gomez handled their first-time status as host and musical guest, respectively, on the Saturday Night Live stage this week. Rousey, best known for her phenomenal MMA and UFC career, has some serious acting credits on her résumé, with roles in The Expendables 3, Fast 7, and the Entourage movie. Gomez, fresh off the release of her new "Hands To Myself" video, which has well over 9,500,000 views and counting, is a force on both TV and on the dance floor.

But was their girl power enough to melt through Winter Storm Jonas raging outside Rockefeller Center? Would Rousey pull off a comeback from her most recent loss?

Here are three of the breakout moments from this week's Saturday Night Live:

1. Bland Man: This spoof of The Bachelor saw almost all of the female members of the cast rotating through on a running gag taking on the ABC show's one-on-one moments. As each woman sits down for some private time with "Dan from Chicago or Denver," played by Taran Killam, the first thing she says is, "Mmm, I like this," in a perfect mimic of forced small talk of the reality show. All of the familiar housemates are here: Aidy Bryant is the one with the secret family (and one giant toe). Kate McKinnon is the one who hogs all his time. Rousey makes an appearance talking about her date in a "hot air balloon with the cast of Chicago Fire," and Cecily Strong is the crazy one who complains that "All of the girls hate me because I'm mean to them!" The sketch ends with a ringer: Selena Gomez as Selena Gomez. Game over for the other Bland Man contestants.

2. Opening Monologue: Rousey came out swinging in her opening monologue, making reference to the blizzard and the shutdown of New York City and Broadway, joking that,"Tonight we're the only show in town." Some of the jokes were even at her own expense: "This is the first time I'm on live TV without getting punched in the face." She got a big assist from the cast throughout the opening bit, which was written as one of her fights, complete with ring announcers and a bell. She pulled out proven winners for big laughs in the second round. They went with a crowd favorite, Kate McKinnon’s Bieber, who took it on the chin from Rousey (could that have been for Selena’s benefit?) and then a musical number with Selena herself singing “Come and Get It.” The monologue was really the only time during the night that Rousey handled the jokes herself. The rest of the time, she was relegated to bit parts and playing it straight.

3.Love Struck: Vanessa Bayer knocks it out of the park as the lead mean girl tormenting the new girl, Rousey. What she doesn't know is this new girl can throw a punch. Rousey goes from mousey to UFC in less than two seconds for shy new girls everywhere. Major high fives for knocking the popular guy in the windpipe after the girl fight is over and he has the nerve to ask her out. Every teen romance movie from the '80s and '90s has been served.

Bonus points for "Hands To Myself:"
For her newest single, Selena Gomez did a stripped down interpretation of the video. Gomez appeared first by herself on a black satin bed. Soon, she was joined by a solitary male dancer and another female dancer. The three shimmied and slid across the black satin. Not that anyone needed a reminder that Selena has left her Disney Channel self and Bieber in her past, but the pas de trois should erase any doubt. She scored a knockout with a single punch.

Praise the heavens! This Monday, January 25, Mercury retrograde comes to an end. Can we get an amen, hallelujah? Since January 5, the planet of communication, information, and transportation has been stuck in a signal-scrambling backspin. Basically, this made it impossible to get 2016 plans into flight...or even see WTF our missions actually were. Worse yet, Mercury retrograde began its trek through Aquarius — the sign of technology and electronic equipment — from January 5 to 8. This doubled the impact of computer breakdowns, Wi-Fi outages, and gear going haywire. Then, Mercury dipped back into Capricorn, the goal-setting sign. Can you see what we're getting at here? #FrustrationStation

But all hope is not lost. From Monday until February 13, Mercury powers ahead through Capricorn, heralding the real resolution revolution. Ambitious plans can finally lift off. The coast is clear to sign important documents, too. And hey, maybe they do know you by first name at the Genius Bar or auto repair shop, but this week will mark your final visit — which might mean investing in a new model instead of trying to squeeze another dying breath out of that tired old hooptie or PC. One caveat: The shadow of Mercury retrograde lingers on until February 15, so it's still important to take precautions. Buy insurance on larger purchases and make sure all items come with a warranty or legit return policy.

Aquarius
The fog is lifting, Aquarius. Ever since Mercury turned retrograde on January 5, you’ve had a hard time seeing the forest for the trees. People have tested your boundaries and some have tried to take advantage of your kindness. If you had a few blue days, well, we wouldn’t be surprised. Happily, Mercury’s madness comes to an end this Monday, when the fleet-footed messenger planet shifts back into drive. No more excuses! If something — or someone — is toxic for you, it's time to cut them off. Having “just a taste” is only going to keep you stuck in a draining cycle. As for the people you love who have simply worked your nerves this month? Peace may come when you surrender and accept them for who they are. You can't change certain people — and if they need a legit therapist, help them research professionals instead of trying to fill in for that role. Is it time to hug it out with a frenemy? Mercury's U-turn helps you make amends over the next few weeks. Extend the olive branch and see what gives.

Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio has you thinking like a tycoon. No more stalling on your 2016 career resolutions. The weekend will be ripe with opportunities for researching and strategic socializing. Find out where the influencers are partying and plant yourself there. With your Aquarian charisma and comedic chops, you'll have no trouble breaking the ice. Have you been working a little too hard for the money? Use Sunday to devise savvier systems and lifehacks so you can leave the office before 9 p.m. next week.

Pisces
Technical difficulties, begone! Ever since Mercury turned retrograde on January 5, you’ve been dealing with your share of meltdowns. If it wasn’t your laptop mysteriously erasing a document or Wi-Fi going down five minutes before you needed to submit a time-sensitive proposal, you may have butted heads with friends and considered defecting from your go-to crew. But no need, Pisces, because Mercury flips back into drive this Monday, uncrossing those wires and helping you mend fences. No more hours wasted at the Genius Bar — but maybe it's time to actually invest in a new computer, okay? With Mercury cruising ahead in Capricorn until February 13, your social life is on the fast track for expansion and you could be ushered into a new crowd. At work, joining or forming a team could bring major momentum and success.

This weekend, the quarter moon in Scorpio activates your wanderlust — and your lust in general. A change of scenery will rev your engines. Load up the carry-on bag and go explore new vistas. If you're in a relationship, make it a couples' getaway. Removed from the stresses of home base, you'll be able to relax into a romantic headspace. Heading out solo? A memorable winter hookup may be in the stars, so pack your good underwear.

Aries
Newsflash, Aries: the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence; it’s lushest where you water it. For the past few weeks, you’ve been looking for “hotter, stronger, faster” as Mercury retrograde backstroked through your 10th house of status and success. But your efforts to upgrade may have led to some misfires. Maybe you exed people out a little too quickly or judged a good book by its misleading cover. It’s not too late to turn things around. This Monday, Mercury gets back on track, restoring your judgment calls. Dry clean that silk top and slip your arms into a blazer. Mercury's U-turn blesses you with killer career mojo until February 13 (and beyond). Keep your game face on at all times, because you could make THE connection while waiting in line at Whole Foods or by the elevator. Award loyalty points to people who have had your back all along. How can you loop them into your profitability plan and reach new heights together?

Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio turns your attention to amour. While a blazing attraction is important, you also need depth and loyalty. If trust issues arise, have a candid talk about the future. Worrying whether or not you're on the same page is too stressful. Better to know the truth so you can safely move ahead or cut your losses and move on. Coupled Rams could use more quality one-on-one time. Start Sunday off with breakfast in bed and see where the mood takes you.

Taurus
The truth has been stranger than fiction for the past three weeks as Mercury toiled through its first retrograde of 2016. Knowing what and who to believe has been a mindfuck and scheduling plans boiled down to a comedy of errors. Don’t give up on the human race! This Monday, Mercury busts a U-turn and plows ahead through your candid ninth house until February 13. The coast is clear to schedule conference calls, pitch meetings, and heart-to-hearts — although you should still deploy extra tact measures until the shadow of the retrograde fully passes on February 15. Cabin fever, begone! A stalled travel plan could get back in motion. Cast a wider net with all you do. The opportunities you seek could come through a long-distance connection or require you to hop on a plane for a combo platter of business and pleasure.

Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio brings equilibrium to your love life and partnerships in general. How balanced is the give and take between you? If you haven't been pulling your weight, step up! Have you allowed your other half to slack? Meet for brunch to discuss a more equal share of duties. Of course, you DO know that means that you will have to let go of some control, right?

Gemini
With Mercury retrograde in your sexual sector (the eighth house) since January 5, your mojo has taken on a mind of its own. This may have spawned a celibacy phase OR led to a few sultry "did I really just go there?" chapters for your locked diary. As wild or boring as the 2016 ride thus far has been, you are ready for greater predictability. Fortunately, Mercury makes a U-Turn on Monday, restoring a little order to your court bedroom. Keep those racy, lacy numbers within reach. With Mercury zooming forward through your erotic eighth house until February 13, you could still be unzipping, unbuttoning, and working the tearaway dress before Valentine’s Day rolls by. The question is, for who? Confusion about people's intentions starts clearing up. Is it true love or just a scorching-hot hookup? Is it time to get engaged or maybe just enjoy the dating process without a rush? Clarity's a-coming, so relax. If an ex returned since early January, you’ll know if reconnecting is “safe and non-toxic” — or the complete opposite.

And rather than ruminating over Cupid's game plan, Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio activates your healthy living sector. If you must obsess, do it while vigorously pedaling that stationary spin bike or holding bow pose at hot yoga. Did an extreme exercise resolution wind up in a fail? Quarter moons remind us that moderation is key. Spend the weekend searching for studios that are upbeat, fun — and also social, since meeting interesting people is a hi-pri item for the Gemini agenda.

Cancer
You love them; you love them not. That assessment has changed hourly since 2016 began. With Mercury retrograde in your relationship house since January 5, your feelings ran as hot and cold as a Katy Perry song. An ex may have made a disorienting reappearance, throwing you off center just when things were heating up with the new love in your life. Breathe easy, Cancer. This Monday, Mercury corrects its course, helping you figure out exactly what it is that your heart wants. Cue Cancer Selena Gomez, because that "Same Old Love" just ain't gonna cut it (sorry, J-Biebs wannabes). Mercury is the planet of communication, so use your words! People aren't mind readers, Cancer, and maybe, just maybe, you've been mad at someone who simply needs instructions spelled out clearly. Speak up and teach them how to treat you right. In an LTR? The lovers’ quarrels will subside this Monday, making it easier to strike a compromise. As for that sexting ex? You’ll have a clear view on how to categorize ‘em before Valentine’s Day rolls around. You never know: this sophomore effort might actually trump the first release.

Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio and your flamboyant, fashionable fifth house green lights a little image upgrade. No need to go extreme makeover here, but maybe do something different with your hair (maybe these zodiac-approved 'dos) or add some color to brighten up your neutral winter wardrobe. Work on your professional "branding," too. Some sleek graphics, new photos, or updates to your LinkedIn profile can take your work from "meh" to "magnifique!"

Leo
Structure, order, routine: Not exactly a few of your favorite things, but when a Leo is ready to whip life into shape, look out, world! Unfortunately, with Mercury retrograde (backwards) since January 5, you've had a few extra challenges with these organizational missions. Arm yourself with the label maker, power drill, and Excel spreadsheets once again. Mercury corrects its course on Monday, giving you the green light to lifehack away. Besides cleaning up the chaos and making The House Of Leo run like a well-oiled machine, hop back on the wellness wagon. With Mercury speeding on course through your sixth house until February 13, prioritize regular workouts, schedule appointments like teeth cleanings and annual checkups, and set up conference calls to get colleagues aligned. Tension with a coworker clears up, too — hopefully BEFORE an actual crisis erupted. Regardless, Leo, it’s time to make nice.

Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio shines its beams on your girl gang. Do you have enough support from the ladies in your life? Have you cast yourself in the Alpha role one time too many? You're a powerhouse, Leo, and you need friends who can deliver as fiercely as you do. Unfortunately, devotion like that doesn't come along every day. It may be time to reshuffle the decks and create space to nurture new connections — or explore new scenes where you can find your soul sisters.

Virgo
You’re so done with the drama, Virgo — and this week you can say that with conviction. On Monday, Mercury effectively ends a three-week retrograde in your fifth house passion, creativity, and romance. Your attempts to express yourself may have gone awry since January 5, leading to a quick delete of a Snapchat or Insta after the comments came rolling in (or didn't). But as of Monday, you can say goodbye to the creative blocks, awkward miscommunication, and confusing romantic situations. With Mercury powering forward through your fifth house until February 13, your unique and flamboyant traits will be celebrated. Standing out from the crowd could make you a bit of a role model, even — let those star qualities shine. But this time, aim for creative expression, not controversy. Mercury’s backspin may have summoned an old flame from your ex files too. A relationship that was going perfectly may have hit a speedbump. Cupid is back in your corner as of Monday, so use this week to smooth ruffled feathers and figure out who's on deck to be your Valentine. Maybe it IS the ex, or maybe you just need to create a blank space for someone new.

Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio gets you thinking about your social schedule. Are you wasting time on filler activities that don't really make your soul sing? Bow out of these time-zappers and create space for things like workshops, yoga clinics, writing groups, band practice — something you legit enjoy. And while you love having a bestie, has a friendship become a little too insular? Make space for new people, too, because one amiga can't be your everything.

Libra
All has not been quiet on the Libra homefront since Mercury turned retrograde on January 5. But this Monday, you can roll out the welcome mat once again. The messenger planet makes a U-turn and gets back on track; in fact, Mercury will speed ahead through your home and family sector until February 13. From hermit to hostess-with-the-mostest in 0.2 seconds: Why not? And with Mercury in gear, you can start actualizing those home decor Pinterest boards. Break out the paint rollers, order the removable wallpaper and duvet cover. On the hunt for a new home (sweet home)? Spend time with the real estate section this week. Visit neighborhoods during daylight hours and after dark to get the feel for their safety and sanctity. As much as you love a good party, Libra, renting a studio steps away from a bar will lose its cachet fast when the PBR-lit smokers interrupt your beauty sleep with their loud, 2 a.m. banter.

Money's on your mind this weekend as Sunday's quarter moon in Scorpio galvanizes your second house of finance. A consumer of fine goods you most certainly are, Libra — but how about that savings plan? Sit down and map out a budget. Following the rule of "if I don't see it, I won't spend it" is wise, too, so have a portion of your paycheck automatically transferred into a savings or investment account. This is easy to do straight from online banking. And focus on the income column, too. As every Libra understands, it's all about who you know. Follow these networking secrets and you could find yourself in a new pay grade soon.

Scorpio
Friends, foes, or frenemies? With Mercury retrograde in your social third house since January 5, you’ve had some filing issues with the people in your life. But that all changes this Monday as Mercury corrects its course, helping you clarify who TRULY has your back. And with Mercury powering forward through your friendship zone until February 13, a fresh crop of kindred spirits could come your way. Get out and dabble in new hobbies, extracurriculars, and local activities. Exploring new scenes can banish the winter blues. As for old pals who DO make the post-retrograde cut? Maybe it’s time for a more formal collaboration. Partner up on a project, plan a party together, or start a meetup group of your own. The coast is clear to shop for mobile gadgets now: from digital devices to ones that require a key in the ignition. If this purchase doesn't come with a warranty and return policy, however, wait until February 15 to make your final purchase, allowing the shadow of the retrograde to fully pass.

Treat Sunday like a one-day, one-person retreat. With the quarter moon in Scorpio hovering overhead, some productive "me time" awaits. Journal, meander, flow through the day without a hardcore schedule. Figuring out what makes you happy — and what just feels like a drag on your soul — will be on your mind, too. By the day's end, you could be registering for a workshop or retreat, and even writing a Dear John letter to someone who you're SO done with.

Sagittarius
Money’s been funny since Mercury turned retrograde on January 5. Maybe you even spent the last few weeks digging yourself out of a little hole. But #BrokeAsAJoke will never wind up as your official hashtag, Sagittarius. This Monday, Mercury does a 180 and powers forward through your financially savvy second house until February 13. That means you have a whole month to restore your inner rich girl to power. Get into action: Follow up on job leads, initiate projects and sales calls, and take a promising contact out for a power lunch. If talks about budgets turned into screaming matches for the past few weeks, take heart. By the weekend, you’ll be able to address that stack of bills without biting anyone’s head off.

Sunday's quarter moon in your 12th house of transitions rings the warning bell. Letting go is the way to grow, Sagittarius, so it's time to assess what's on your plate — and what's in your space. This weekend brings a long-awaited opportunity to build shelves, organize closets, and gather paperwork for your tax return. And also remove all that unused gear for good, never to be replaced with mindless impulse buys again. The muse will pop by, too, so keep your schedule light this weekend so you can get into creatrix mode when the divine downloads come.

Capricorn
Open mouth, insert wide-legged jeans? Misunderstood is feeling like your middle name lately, as communication planet Mercury’s been retrograde in your sign since January 8. Despite your best efforts, people are just not getting where you're coming from — and your comedic timing has been a little...off. Before you utterly lose it, here’s some good news: This Monday, Mercury does a 180 and drives in fifth gear through Capricorn until February 13. Lift the gag order! Your gift of gab is back with a vengeance and you'll have them at hello. All those eye rolls and unreturned texts you suffered through will be a thing of the past. Get ready for a popularity spike, in fact; you might not even know how to handle all the attention coming your way!

This weekend could bring shifts to your social circle. The quarter moon in Scorpio shines its beams on new groups and organizations of interest. You're a loyalist, Capricorn, and tend to roll with a tight-knit crew. But don't feel guilty about branching out. If you find an activity you love, you can always invite your old amies along later. Heading to a place where no one knows your history will be refreshing: You'll get to reinvent yourself and your image, like your late, great sign-mate, David Bowie.

Things You Need: Fluffy Cloud Face Cream

cloudcream
Doesn't "Cloud Cream" sound like something you would want to dip your face in? I have visions of cotton candy fluff caressing my dry, flaky skin. While this cream doesn't quite have that puffy kitten-fur texture, it does do a damn good job of hydrating and handling your skin with kid gloves.

Let's rewind for a second and get some context. As anyone who has suffered through a brutal winter knows (Chicago, Minneapolis, and Boston, I'm looking at you), your skin was not made to endure Arctic temperatures, gusty winds, and a radiator from hell. Dryness, redness, flakiness, and all-around painfully chapped complexions are just the crappy reality for a lot of us.

And these issues can make your skin-care routine null and void — or worse, make it suddenly cause burning and stinging. It's the ultimate skin-care catch-22 — you desperately need moisture, but everything you apply just sits on top of your skin scales while simultaneously stinging your face and exacerbating the problem.

I find myself frustrated by this vexing issue every damn winter. I tried everything from slathering my face in petroleum jelly (do not recommend — the resulting clogged pores are so not worth it) to rocking and sobbing in my bathroom. In an act of desperation, I cleaned out the beauty closet of every single lotion and cream. Perks of being a beauty editor.

After a week of trying fancy creams, holistic butters, and good 'ol drugstore remedies, I finally stumbled upon my savior — Skyn Iceland's Pure Cloud Cream. Made wth almond oil, oats, and peptides, plus an Icelandic ingredient blend made up of arctic berries and glacial water, the contents of this unassuming jar were the answer to all my winter skin woes.

The first test was the sting test. My visage had become so sensitive, a slight breeze made me cringe in pain. I tentatively applied a layer of cream and immediately cringed as I felt an uncomfortable tingle around my flaked-up nose. And then: sweet, sweet, cooling relief. The tingle subsided and my skin felt as if someone had laid a satin pillowcase over it.

Test number two: Can it penetrate my scales to absorb into my skin and have an actual benefit? The cream took a bit of smoothing on, but my rough skin started to soften up and let it soak in instead of laying uselessly on top like so many others I had tried.

Test number three: Was the scent going to make me nauseous? I'm a sensitive sniffer prone to migraines, so the wrong scent or an overpowering aroma can set me off in a matter of minutes. While Cloud Cream isn't unscented, the fresh, slightly citrusy scent was light and inoffensive.

Let's just say I hauled all those other creams back to the office — I knew I wouldn't be needing them anymore. The minute the temperature starts to drop (or I overdo it on the retinol), I reach for this. Nothing else has been able to soothe, soften, and all-around comfort my irritated skin as well.

It's basically a cashmere blanket for your face. Or, at least what I would imagine a cashmere blanket would feel like — I'm not Gwyneth Paltrow, so my blanket textiles are limited to polyester "fur" and some warm but scratchy knit afghans my grandma made for me when I was 12. But you get my drift.

Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cream, $55, available at Skyn Iceland.

You're Treating Your Black Slacks Like Cinderella

Black work slacks are the under-appreciated workhorses in your closet. You tolerate their existence despite the fact you heavily rely on them. If and when they slip up, they become intolerable. Face it: black slacks are Cinderella and you are the evil stepmother.

But Cinderella really, really wants to go to the ball. And she deserves to go, too — though black slacks are mostly worn to work for "business-casual" purposes, they provide the perfect foundation for a million other looks and occasions, too (of course, having the right pair is 90% of the battle). Click through to meet the fairy godmothers that'll help you take your black work slacks out of the 9-to-5 grind.

Cropped at the ankle with a sensible pump and a covered-up shirt. Okay — that's your typical office outfit. But worn with a fun vest and a whimsical bag, your look gets 100 times more you and less HR.

Slightly cropped black slacks are the pant to wear with the ever-popular sock-bootie. With a slim, stretchy shaft, a boot like this is meant to be shown off — and cropped black slacks show off the shape of the shoe, but still looks fashion-forward (especially when you wear it with a duster coat).

There are those sock booties again — and this time, the look gets even more high fashion with slightly more dramatic wide-leg slacks.

Culotte-style slacks balance out more casual separates, like a varsity jacket and white sneakers.

There's something so New Wave and bobo about longer-length, tapered slacks when you wear them like Emmanuelle Alt with suede boots and a trench coat.

The Best Photos Of Celebrities Surviving Winter Storm Jonas

How are you surviving during snowstorm Jonas? The blizzard is bearing down on 33 million people across the East Coast, leaving many with little to do except wait for the storm to pass.

There is another option, though. Blizzards are a perfect time to catch up on delicious eats, good reads, sleep, and Netflix original series that have been waiting in your queue.

Winter Storm Jonas has also given celebrities a chance to slow down and play catch up. A few, from Coco Rocha to Aaron Paul and Emmy Rossum, are also snowed in.

They're drinking wine, playing in the snow on their balconies, and trying to stop cabin fever from setting in. Best of all, many have taken to social media to share how they're spending their snow day.

Here are some of the best snow day shares from some of our favorite celebs.

Kate Hudson wasn't about to let the snow stop her from heading out with friends.

Mariska Hargitay celebrated her birthday on Saturday, thanking everyone and Jonas for all the love.

Miranda Lambert cuddled with some furry friends in the snow. One of them looks happy to be there, the other is, perhaps, not so into the white stuff.

Dianna Agron shared a dreamy, snow-covered landscape from Nashville. Blonde hair on black jackets on white snow for the ultimate in contrast looks!

Reese Witherspoon shared her patriotic — and snowy — view from Nashville.

Melissa Joan Hart was snowed in at the hospital with her husband, who was having back surgery. Her kids, however, got some sledding in while their parents were away.

Coco Rocha took her darling baby, Ioni, out to meet Jonas.

Lo Bosworth shared this photo on Instagram with the caption, "No lift lines in lower Manhattan."

Aaron Paul used the blizzard to pine about how much he'll miss the city after he leaves. "I will be sad to leave you New York," he wrote in an Instagram caption.

Indulging in a glass of wine seems like the perfect way to spend a snow day. Drew Barrymore agrees. The Blended star showed her awesome view through her wine glass.

Lea Michele vamps, cozily wrapped in a blanket on a snow day. Even her tresses are flowing.

Emmy Rossum is bundled up in a turtleneck sweater and comfy coat as she braves the storm.

Miss J Alexander and Lucas, the French bulldog, are enjoying their day off. They're posed in the window as orange flowers provide a great contrast to the dreary weather.

Marnie the Dog is loving the winter weather! She's posing in her cute sweater, giving us all something to smile about.

How sweet is this? Neil Patrick Harris shared this adorable photo of his kids being affectionate on Instagram. The breakfast spread looks pretty delicious, too.

Clare Bowen's fallen and can't get up! The Nashville actress is dressed for the cold in her scarf, gloves, and boots, at least.

Astronaut Scott Kelly gave us all an out-of-this-world view of the blizzard from the space station. The East Coast is blanketed in white, but Kelly is comfy as he floats around.

Let's hope singer Trisha Yearwood's mug is full of creamy hot chocolate and marshmallows. Her smile and furry hat would suggest as much.

Savannah Guthrie is loving her snow day. In the caption on this Instagram photo, the Today co-anchor wrote, "Forecast calls for 100 percent chance of sweatpants." Agreed.

Katie Cassidy is relaxing on this snow day. "Fearless" is across the Arrow actress' shirt. She definitely is, since she's wearing a sleeveless top.

Aidy Bryant's productivity is on an all-time high. The Saturday Night Live comedian built a giant snow gumdrop on top of her deck's table.

Sheryl Crow and her two dogs are frolicking in Nashville's unexpected blizzard.

British actor Jonny Lee Miller took an awesome shot of his neighborhood with a towering NYC bridge as his backdrop.

The Fast-Selling Accessory You Can Add To Your Collection For Just $12

You never want something until you can't have it. So, each week in The Sell-Out, we're getting the scoop from your favorite retailers on what's selling like crazy. Watch this space to find out what everyone's buying, sign up for wait lists, and keep tabs on restocks.

We've declared over and over again that getting personal with your clothing is having a moment — pins, patches, and embroidery are back, taking all of your jeans and denim jackets to the next level. But it's the culture of pin creating, collecting, and trading that has really captured our attention — and introduced us to a variety of witty and impressive artists taking this hipster subculture by storm.

There's one brand in particular that's made itself a fashion-crowd favorite. Pintrill, which makes covetable enamel pins, collaborates with relevant creators and only produces limited quantities, meaning they don't last long. And since the meme-like, pop-culture-referencing pins sell out on the regular, we had to get the scoop on what the hot item of the moment is.

According to our friends at Pintrill, the "Fresher Than You" pin, designed by London-based artist Sammy Moore, is flying off the shelves. Originally released in green for those who rep New York City, hometown-fanatics loved it so much that the brand worked with Moore to design Chicago (red) and Los Angeles (blue) versions of the pin, which hit stores this week. And since they're part of a special collection, the brand only produced a certain amount (and they aren't going to be restocked).

So, if you want to show your friends just how fresh you are, it's time to make moves on this $12 statement-maker. Click through to add the piece to your virtual cart, and scope out some other pins we love — in the likely event this hot-ticket item sells out.

Hollywood Medium's Tyler Henry Has A Message From Brittany Murphy

$

Shortly after Brittany Murphy's mysterious death from pneumonia in 2009, actress Jaime Pressly was asked by paparazzi if she'd been friends with the Clueless star. "I was before she married him," she answered, referring to Murphy's husband Simon Monjack (who has since also passed away).

It's possible 20-year-old clairvoyant Tyler Henry knew this when he visited Pressly for a segment on his show, Hollywood Medium, which premieres on E! tonight. But in this promo clip, he's certainly convincing as he says he's receiving a message from someone reaching out to Pressly.

"We have a younger woman who's stepping forward who feels like she passed away too soon, and when she's coming through, she's making my lungs hurt quite, quite a bit," he says. "She's blaming an outside influence and saying she was in a very manipulative situation."

He describes how he sees a picture of Britney Spears to give him a clue about the person's name. It's Pressly herself who says, "Brittany Murphy!" looking shocked.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Henry explained how that name game worked. "I use my life experience as points of reference to relate a message — I describe it as a word bank," he said. "So I mean, I didn't know who Brittany Murphy was, but I do know Britney Spears, and so that was the way of giving that name to me in a way that would be specific and deliverable."
The young medium moved to Los Angeles for the show, which has connected him to a wide variety of celebrities with loved ones on the other side. In preview clips, he's shown giving readings to Bella Thorne, Amber Rose, Snooki, and Boy George. He first caught our attention last November, when he appeared on Keeping Up With the Kardashians with a visit to Khloé's house.

Does Henry clarify the circumstances of Murphy's death? Looks like we'll have to tune in to find out.

Update: NYC Gets Back On Its Feet Following Winter Storm Jonas

Update: New York City is slowly getting back up and running following a night where it weathered the worst of Winter Storm Jonas. The storm brought the highest snowfall to the city since 1896, currently standing at the second highest on the books at 26.8 inches.

The MTA says that portions of above-ground subways have been restored as of 9 a.m. EST, as well as modified MTA Transit and bus service. Check the routes before you go to make sure yours is available.

MetroNorth plans to be fully operational by 3 p.m., operating on a Sunday schedule. LIRR and SIR service is still suspended.

The NYPD asks that people having problems with hot water or heating call 311 for assistance today. It also revealed on Twitter that during last night's travel ban, 25 summonses were issued and one DWI ticket. The travel ban was lifted as of 7 a.m. on Sunday.

As of last night, the city counted 312 accidents and three deaths in the metro area related to the storm.
